The capital of Portugal, Lisbon, has so much to offer. If you’re travelling to Lisbon this summer then you’re in for a treat! Lisbon is full of rich architecture, charming small streets, colourful trams and sea views. Make sure to read our city itinerary where we show you how to see the most popular spots in just one day.
In this post, we’re going to be covering specifically where you can find the best views in Lisbon. So, if you were wondering were to watch the sunset or do your Instagram photoshoot – this post is for you!
Top of Padrão de Descobrimentos
In the Belem area, is located the famous monument Padrão de Descobrimentos, which is dedicated to the adventurers who helped establish Portugal in the 14th century. You can access the top of this tower by paying only 5 Euros, from where you can get a great glance of the city’s skyline.
Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo
Probably the most photographed alley in Portugal. If you are wondering where the yellow, famous trams that you see all over Instagram are – It’s here! From this spot you can see all the way down to the river side from above and, to add more charm, there is a unique tram that can take you aaaaall the way down if you’re too lazy to walk.
Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara
This view balcony is especially beautiful at sunset time. Because it is located at a very high point, it is the perfect place to enjoy Lisbon from up high. At golden hour, the sun creates a beautiful yellow filter all over the city!
Parque Eduardo VII
This park is situated further inside the city and is one of the most famous public parks in Lisbon, where many events and national celebrations are hosted. From here you are also able to appreciate the big city all the way down to the marine.
Cristo Rei
This tall monument is located outside of the city, in Almada. It is a Catholic Sanctuary dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ overlooking the city of Lisbon. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. This is probably the highest view that you can get of the city. It is perfect because it is situated on the other side of the bridge and you can appreciate the port and the full city of Lisbon in its entirety.
