Thailand has become a very popular destination for travellers in the recent years; and people tend to only visit the commonly known touristic areas. However, this country has a lot more to see. Outside of Phi Phi Islands, Phuket and Chiang Mai, there is a world full of hidden beaches, temples and national parks. Sounds appealing? Then keep reading to find out some of Thailand hidden gems:
Erawan National Park
This national park is situatied northwest of Bangkok. It is known for its 7-tier waterfalls that, once you have entered the park, you can visit by trekking up a mounting.
To get to Erawan Park, you’ll have to spend the night in Kanchanaburi (West Thailand). This town has a lot of history linked to the World War II and offers lovely, calm accommodation on top of the riverside. To get to Kanchanaburi you can take a very cheap ($1) 3-hour train from Bangkok and then from there, a bus in the morning will take you to the National Park.
Hua Hin
This area is best known as a seaside resort and is situated in the southern Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. If you are looking for a quiet scape from the busy Bangkok, this is the place to go to. The area also offers multiple day trips such as Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, Kaeng Krachan National Park, Phetchaburi and Monsoon Valley Vineyard.
Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya is a city located about 80Km north from Bangkok and it is mainly known for the unique temple visits in the town. Some things to see here include the city’s historical park, Wat Mahathat, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet and Wat Phanan Choeng, amongst others.
Bangkok’s floating markets
A usually over-seen excursion in Bangkok is its floating markets. While these are located in the outskirts of the city, they do a great 1-day trip. This, will enable you to experience what is daily live for some locals, shopping for food and souvenirs on a wooden boat through what is literally a floating market.
Nai Harn Beach
This secret beach is located in the south of Puket. It is honestly one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever stepped on. The sea is calm, clear and shallow, allowing for plenty of sand space to walk and play at the same time. We 100% recommend this location if you are looking for some calm beach time while you are in Phuket! Please note this beach is secluded so regardless of where you are staying at, it will take you a while to get there. From Patong, it is a 40-minute ride and it cost us about 500 Thai baht per person – But we promise it is worth it!
